Who Is Sweet Greens?

Dan grew up in North Carolina, where he enjoyed working with draft horses, especially training them to drive a carriage, and had an interest in raising chickens. Carma was raised on an Iowa cattle farm; in her teen years she helped rear hogs and worked for two greenhouse businesses. Dorinda grew up in a German Lutheran community — Strasburg, Illinois — where she helped on her Grandfather Everett’s farm as a girl. She shared in the many chores on her parents’ small farm too, helping with the chickens, hogs, cattle, turkeys, and the large garden. As Dan, Carma, and Dorinda grew up, they also learned how to can produce from the summer harvesting, gradually gaining years of experience working first-hand with crops of all kinds.
